iCAN Tri Junior Triathlon Club is seeking an intern for a Volunteer
Director position. This is a chance for a student to be involved in a
meaningful service that will help them grow personally and professionally.
It also comes with a $1,500 scholarship once all requirements are completed.

Position Description: The 6th annual iCAN TRI Youth Triathlon Event will
be held at Clovis North Educational Center, Sunday July, 16, 2017 for youth
ages 6-19 and adults. Approximately 50 to 65 volunteers are needed for this
event. This is a sanctioned, USA Triathlon Regional Event (California,
Arizona and Nevada).

Responsible for recruiting and organizing previous and new volunteers to
facilitate the volunteer needs of the event. Will work directly with Race
Director and race staff in compliance with the organizations volunteer

– Participate in scheduled Race Committee meetings
– Recruit volunteers to facilitate the needs of the event
– Recruit volunteers from local community organizations and prior race
volunteer database
– Compile new volunteer contact information
– Organize volunteers and staffing
– Conduct volunteer briefing
– Organize and set-up, at the race site, the volunteer assembly area
complete with all the materials, supplies and refreshments
– Clean up volunteer assembly area after the event
– Attend a Race Committee debriefing meeting

Hours/Days: 150 Hours Total, to be arranged

Award Amount: $1,500 Scholarship, payable in late August 2017 (must be
enrolled during fall 2017 semester)

Majors: All applicable majors

Qualifications: Applicants should have a passion for the mission and
vision of iCAN Junior Triathlon Club and the iCAN TRI Youth Triathlon
event. Should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
understand the volunteer needs of the event; possess good oral and written
communications skills; knowledge of popular social media platforms and the
internet; and is outgoing, friendly, energetic, with an eagerness to serve
the public interest.
