As the president of NAMI Fresno, I am emailing about our board recruitment
process (NAMI = National Alliance on Mental Illness).

We are currently seeking nominations for our board. NAMI Fresno has
enjoyed success in program growth, organizational development, and
community engagement. We are excited to be reaching beyond our membership
to the community for board members to help us continue to give hope and
improve the quality of life for all people affected by mental illness.

Our current board members are retired teachers, mid-career mental health
professionals, Fresno State leaders, and administrative assistants. We
would like to have members who can provide legal expertise to support
advocacy for our members and the individuals who seek our support, engage
accounting professionals to support our need for regular audits of our
finances, and business people from a variety of industries. We are also
seeking individuals who can represent students and young professionals.

Our timeline for board recruitment is as follows:

10/5 Board Recruitment Social
10/19 Commitment from potential board candidates
10/26 Annual membership meeting – kicks off our board election season
12/1 Announcement of board election results

Please support us by

– Referring Humanics students and alumni who can be engaged board
members (hours may be used to fulfill internship requirements)
– Referring people you know who might be interested in joining our board
– Identifying organizations who encourage their employees to volunteer
and/or engage in community activities.

I appreciate your support!
