On November 7, 2017 the Central Valley Community Foundation’s Director of Programs & Evaluation, Kelvin Alfaro, came to speak in my class. Kelvin, a former Humanics scholar, gave a very good presentation about CVCF, their history, and what their goals are for the future. I really enjoyed his presentation because it was clear that Kelvin is passionate about his work. He believes in what the foundation is doing and is supportive of helping them accomplish those goals. It was also nice to see that a former Humanics scholar was able to attain a career working for one of the biggest foundations in our region.

Kelvin also introduced us to a new program that CVCF is using to help them manage grants. This particular program is set up to assist foundations as well as organizations to keep track of grants, amounts, program deadlines and so much more. I can honestly say that if possible we could have kept Kelvin there for at least another hour picking his brain to help us better understand the foundation and it’s grant making process.
